Natalie Burden is a European Registered Toxicologist at the NC3Rs where she has been leading a programme since 2014 seeking to improve the scientific basis and efficiency of chemical risk assessment while reducing reliance on animals and/or improving animal welfare. She leads collaborative projects to provide evidence- based recommendations for changes in practice supported by expert working groups across government/regulatory bodies, the chemical, agrochemical and consumer product industries, and academia. She is also a member of the steering team for the HESI Next Generation Environmental Risk Assessment (ERA) Committee and coordinates the British Toxicology Society’s Ecotoxicology Speciality Section and member of the BTS Scientific Subcommitee.
