Endocrine Disruptors:  Identification of the Available In Vitro and In Silico Assays and Approaches to Determine Whether a Given Chemical has the Potential to Cause an Adverse Event as a Direct Consequence of an Endocrine Disruptive Mode of Action.

Objective

This project aims to provide a comprehensive assessment of the available in silico and in vitro assays to assess the potential of a chemical to act as an Endocrine Disrupters (ED) via the EATS MoAs by:

  1. Mapping of ED definition and regulatory status
  2. Information mining and WoE assessment of a chemical with available data
  3. Data generation to evaluate assay performance

Key questions that will be answered with this project:

  • What combination of assays is sufficient to assess the endocrine activity of a chemical?
  • What is the performance of individual in silico and in vitro methods?
  • Can available assays be useful for underpinning endocrine MoA?
  • Can we create an in vitro / in silico framework to assess the endocrine activity of a chemical?
